Space & Earth Observation

About this topic

Space and Earth Observation (EO) involves the use of satellite remote sensing to monitor and collect data about Earth’s physical, chemical, and biological systems.

This data is crucial for understanding environmental changes, managing natural resources, and responding to natural disasters. EO provides comprehensive, real-time insights that are invaluable for informed decision-making across various sectors, including agriculture, forestry, urban planning, and public health.

Caribou has been instrumental in understanding the ways in which satellite-based technologies can be integrated into sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives to support innovation in emerging markets. This includes contributing to the European Space Agency’s Global Development Assistance and Earth Observation for Sustainable Development programs, aiding the UK Space Agency to manage the International Partnership Programme for space-related initiatives that improve people’s lives in more than 50 countries, and working with UK FCDO–funded Humanitarian Innovation Hub, to accelerate the use and impact of geospatial data for climate-related humanitarian emergencies.

Collaborating with a diverse range of clients, including private sector companies, Caribou has provided strategic guidance to entities like Inmarsat and developed commercialization strategies for GAF AG’s EO services in the forestry sector.
