Climate Resilience & Mitigation

About this topic

Digital tools enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of efforts to both mitigate and build resilience to climate change.

Industrialization and a hundred years of carbon emissions are warming the planet and changing its climate. The world is moving to reduce future emissions in many ways: stronger regulations, new technologies, protection of forests, advances in efficiencies and cleaner energy, and broader shifts to renewable energy sources all are helping the world reduce future emissions and slow further warming.

At the same time, key efforts are helping economies and societies build resilience to current and future changes in the climate. Digital technologies and data-driven informed decision-making—from predictive analytics to AI-driven insights—have parts to play on both fronts.

Caribou works with the European Space Agency and UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub on mitigation and resilience using digital technologies. Caribou is also part of a consortium working with Climate Financial Intermediary Funds and accredited entities on ways they can integrate Earth Observation into their climate adaptation investments, via the European Space Agency’s Global Development Assistance program.
