The European Space Agency’s GDA Urban Sustainability activity is helping transform transport planning in Dhaka, Bangladesh—one of the world’s most congested cities—through satellite Earth Observation (EO).
In partnership with the Asian Development Bank, the project supports the revision of Dhaka’s Strategic Transport Plan by integrating EO data into transport modelling. Satellite-derived land use, population density, and infrastructure data are enabling planners to model how citizens move, where congestion builds, and what future infrastructure could deliver the biggest impact.
