In response to rising climate risks in coastal Nigeria, the World Bank’s WACA program and the GDA AID Urban Sustainability consortium are supporting Warri City with satellite-based tools for risk assessment and urban planning.
Using Earth Observation data, the team developed a detailed land use map and an interactive application that visualizes flood and ground deformation risks. This enables local authorities to prioritize investments and plan more effectively. Training and infrastructure support are underway to ensure long-term use of these tools across local, state, and federal levels.
