Digital Finance Impact Evidence Summary
FiDA Snapshot #16
With the support of
This Snapshot reviews 40 studies from 21 countries to map what we know—and don’t—about how digital finance affects low-income clients. While digital payments and transfers show strong positive impacts, there’s little evidence on credit, savings, or insurance. Many studies stop at adoption, without tracking long-term outcomes. The report calls for deeper, more nuanced research—especially on product design, service bundling, and unintended effects—to understand what truly drives financial well-being in a digital age.
