Space for Development Online Knowledge Hub

Geospatial and satellite Earth Observation data can be used to address global sustainable development and humanitarian challenges. However, technical knowledge gaps limit the widespread use of geospatial data in these contexts.

The Space for Development online knowledge hub was built to close these gaps by offering practical resources at the intersection of space, humanitarian work, and development. The knowledge hub includes three parts:

  • The GeoEvidence Explorer, an evidence map consolidating impact literature and insights from past use of geospatial information in humanitarian operations.
  • The GeoPlatform Finder, an interactive web-based knowledge repository that supports humanitarians to find relevant geospatial platforms that could be used to improve their preparedness for—and response to—flooding and drought events.
  • The GeoSolutions Catalogue, a searchable library of geospatial applications for social and environmental impact.

Caribou built and maintained the website with historical funding from the UK Space Agency and UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub.
