Partnership for Finance in Digital Africa

With the support of

Digital financial services and digital inclusion have driven some of the most exciting advancements in inclusive growth. Africa has pioneered innovative business models and technologies that extend financial services beyond traditional banks, reaching millions of people, households, and businesses.

Between 2015 and 2019, Caribou coordinated a learning partnership built around the Mastercard Foundation’s Next Generation Financial Services portfolio. Through original research, evidence scans, and Live Learning sessions, the partnership provided action-oriented knowledge to advance financial inclusion.

From advances in big data to the platformization of markets, this initiative equipped the digital finance community with actionable insights to accelerate meaningful financial inclusion across sub-Saharan Africa. The initiative produced a dedicated microsite, in-depth case studies, and research reports, creating a lasting knowledge resource. All insights from this project can now be found here.
