Satellite Earth Observation (EO) can be a powerful tool in international development, but it is often underutilized. EO data is affordable and comprehensive; it can address challenges related to climate change, disaster management, agriculture, water management, and other critical areas by providing actionable insights.
European Space Agency Global Development Assistance (GDA) is a global partnership to mainstream the use of satellite EO in development operations. Through GDA, the European Space Agency partners with European service providers to facilitate the development of EO products for use by decision-makers in international financial institutions, such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, and more than 70 governments all over the world.
Caribou supported the development of the GDA Knowledge Hub, an interactive online environment optimized for knowledge exchange between the satellite EO sector and the international development community. Caribou provided the project’s strategic roadmap, including analysis of users/audiences and their value propositions, data taxonomy/structure, and analysis of existing comparable platforms.
