Forests are central to climate action, biodiversity, and rural livelihoods, but many governments and land managers still lack the timely, reliable data they need to monitor forest change and plan interventions. Earth Observation can narrow that information gap by making forest condition, disturbance, regeneration, and long-term change easier to track across large and complex landscapes.
World Forest is a European Space Agency–funded initiative developing satellite-based tools and services for forest monitoring. The project works with governments, researchers, and environmental organizations to support climate and biodiversity policy, improve forest reporting, and strengthen the practical use of Earth Observation in forest management.
Caribou is working with the European Space Agency and GAF as part of the World Forest consortium. Our role focuses on turning technical capability into clear, usable evidence for the people and institutions making decisions about forests. We lead promotion and outreach across the project, including the project web portal, policy highlight reports, Earth Observation product brochures, video summaries, and social media.
Caribou is also designing and running evaluation tools, developing impact case studies, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative evidence on the utility and uptake of World Forest services. This combines our strengths in measurement and impact, research and insights, strategy advisory, and communications for complex technical programs.
As World Forest moves through delivery, Caribou is supporting the consortium to show where satellite-enabled forest monitoring can inform better decisions in practice. That means making evidence accessible, documenting how services are used, and connecting technical outputs to the climate, biodiversity, and land management priorities they are designed to serve.
