Bio

Hanna creates effective measurement and impact frameworks that support innovation in rapidly evolving markets, and center on learning and experimentation. She uses systems-informed perspectives to support programs and funds to interrogate their impact, improve programming and contribute to wider change. Hanna is the M&I lead of the Mastercard Strive EU program.

Prior to joining Caribou, she worked on a number of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems to support rigorous adaptive management in uncertain or complex contexts. She led the MREL workstream of a 6.5-year inclusive finance program tasked to support digital innovation for rural customers in Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia. In addition to systems design, Hanna is interested in practical tools that can support data-driven decision-making. She contributed to the development of an application to integrate spatial data into strategic planning and operations of financial services providers in Ghana and Tanzania, and led the development of a web portal that allows product development teams to create data-driven customer personas based on publicly available demographic and health data in Nigeria.

Hanna holds postgraduate degrees in economics and sustainable agriculture, and is a PhD candidate at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she examines technology diffusion in smallholder agriculture. Hanna is based in South Africa.

Insights are the return on investment of effective measurement systems.
