Bio
Gaia is an economist and researcher who brings deep expertise in digital and financial inclusion, public finance, and socio-economic impact analysis in low- and middle-income countries. She specializes in delivering clear, evidence-based insights to inform policy, program design, and reform. Gaia supports Caribou’s work through economic analysis, evaluation, and thematic research across global development and digital policy.
Previously, Gaia was a Director at GSMA, where she led research and policy engagement on digital inclusion and mobile sector reform, advising governments, central banks, and multilateral organizations. Earlier in her career, she worked at Deloitte in economic consulting, advising both public and private sector clients on regulation and impact assessments. Gaia holds a master’s degree in economics from Boston University and a BA and MSc in economics and social sciences from Bocconi University. She is based in London.
